Within these facilities Linfox manages 165,000 m2 of buildings and aerospace accommodation for more than 160 tenants. Today the Linfox Group of companies also operates Australia’s Avalon and Essendon Airports in Victoria which undertake more than 80,000 aircraft movements a year. Similar to the LifeFlight story, Lindsay Fox started Linfox in Melbourne in 1956 with one truck delivering soft drinks and fuel. Her Excellency has long been an advocate of LifeFlight’s role in the Queensland aeromedical network, especially the organisation’s extraordinary efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic when she was Queensland’s Chief Health Officer. In November 2021, LifeFlight welcomed Queensland Governor, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young PSM, as Patron. Coordinators managed 85,411 calls and more than 254,000 messages deploying aeromedical services in FY 2021-2022. As a part of its integrated approach to aeromedical care, the LifeFlight Communications, Coordination and Control Centre provides a dedicated operations capability, responsible for all aircraft tasking, flight and medical operations and crew rostering. LifeFlight also performs international air ambulance repatriation services, inter-hospital transfers, pilot training and air safety training for Defence forces. They provide lifesaving services to Governments and commercial industries and have been contracted for humanitarian services to the United Nations during the COVID-19 pandemic. LifeFlight crews have helped over 74,000+ seriously ill and injured people in need of urgent specialist medical care within a region of 53,000,000 km2. Established as a single helicopter search and rescue charity in Queensland in 1979, LifeFlight now operates a fleet of international standard helicopters and jet Air Ambulances from eight bases throughout Australia and Southeast Asia.
